BECOME A JUNIOR VARSITY MANAGER!
WHAT IS A "JV MANAGER"?
A JV manager is someone who is interested in playing in our school tennis program who is either in 6th grade (players must be in grade 7 or higher to be a "rostered" player in our JV program) or who is in 7th or 8th grade and has not passed the APP testing for middle school students who wish to play a high school sport. Depending upon the number of eligible athletes for a season, the JV coach MAY reserve a few manager spots each season so kids who really love tennis and are hard workers can still play, learn and grow with the team! It is a privilege to be accepted to be a manager and it is something extra that the coach is taking on.
IF THE COACH DECIDES TO TAKE ON A MANAGER, WHAT BENEFITS DOES A MANAGER RECEIVE?
Managers are a valued part of each season! They practice with the team and are a part of everything we do. At matches, they help keep the scores and help their coaches and teammates with whatever is needed. All of these experiences help managers learn what the season is really like before it's their time to compete as a rostered player. They get a pressure-free sneak-peek!
WHAT RESTRICTIONS DOES A MANAGER HAVE?
By NYSPHSAA rules, anyone not rostered cannot compete in a match against another school, so the only restriction is that managers cannot play in the matches against the other schools, but they will receive plenty of match-play against their own teammates and fellow managers throughout the season.
WHAT IS THE TIME COMMITMENT?
The girls season begins in mid-late August and ends in mid-late October. The boys season begins in early-mid March and ends in Mid-May. For the most part, managers can choose their schedule but it must be communicated with their coach. We like them to attend at least two practices/matches per week. We ask, however, that they attend as many practices and HOME matches as they can because that's how they will best continue to improve! For example; most managers are in attendance at least three times per week but may not attend away matches. All matches and practices are right after school each day.

WHERE ARE PRACTICES AND MATCHES?
At the HS. Our middle school students will board a "sports bus" outside of the band entrance to the MS after school each day that will take them right to the HS. From there, they will report to the courts with their fellow managers and teammates.
I'M INTERESTED! WHAT NOW?
Managers are accepted at the coaches discretion. Basically, if we have available space on our team (some years our teams are quite large and we cannot take on any additional players) we are looking for kind, hard-working, coachable kids who really think that they like the sport of tennis and would love to be a part of a TEAM! This is very much a team-first program and we want like-minded people involved. Managers should know and agree with the 5 pillars of our program (visit the 5 Pillars page to learn more). Please let us know you're interested by filling out the form below and clicking "SUBMIT". We'll be in touch with more information when we receive your form.
In the meantime, feel free to peruse our website to get an idea of what our program is all about!
